God's Name on Jerusalem - Incredible Fact

G-d's Name on Jerusalem - Incredible Fact
by Andre Widodo

Shalom,

There are many verses mentioning that G-d put His Name on Jerusalem.

1Ki 11:36  KJV
And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

2Ki 21:4  KJV
And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

2Ch 6:6  KJV
But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.
2Ch 33:4  KJV
Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
How can we identify that G-d put His Name on Jerusalem? How can we explain that God put His Name on Jerusalem?

The word "name" in Hebrew is "shêm" or in Hebrew word is  "שׁם" .
It comes from Hebrew letter SHIN-MEM.

Deu 28:58  KJV
If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name [שׁם - shêm], THE LORD THY GOD.

So, if G-d put His Name on Jerusalem as said in 2Ch 6:6, then there should be a "Name" or
"shêm"on the city of Jerusalem.

2Ch 6:6  KJV
But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name
[שׁם - shêm] might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

To address G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Jewish people never read Y-H-V-H as Jehovah or Yehovah or Yahweh. Never!

To address with full of honor, the Jewish people call God as "Adonai" (Lord) or "HaShem" (The Name).

Ha is a prefix.
Shem means Name.

The first letter of the word "Shem" is SHIN. It is the 26th letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

ketav Ashurit

It is the one letter that the Jewish people chose ages ago to represent the Unspeakable Name of the One and the Only G-d, Y-H-V-H. This letter SHIN holds great significant to the Jewish people. It is also printed on every mezuzah, the Scripture prayer box which always be mounted on door post, in every Jewish house stands for SHADDAI, SHIN-DALET-YOD or שׁדּי.

Note :
Please notice the letter SHIN or
שׁ.

A mezuzah is inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21). These verses comprise the Jewish prayer "Shema Yisrael", beginning with the phrase: "Hear, O Israel, the LORD our G-d, the LORD is One"
Deu 6:4  KJV
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.

A mezuzah is affixed to the doorframe of Jewish homes to fulfill the mitzvah (Biblical commandment) to inscribe the words of the Shema "on the doorposts of your house" (Deuteronomy 6:9).

Jewish law requires a mezuzah on every doorway in the home apart from bathrooms, and closets too small to qualify as rooms; but many families only place one in the front doorway. The parchment is prepared by a qualified scribe (a "sofer stam") who has undergone many years of meticulous training, and the verses are written in black indelible ink with a special quill pen. The parchment is then rolled up and placed inside the case.

The Hebrew letter SHIN
- שׁ is like the English letter W. Now, let us take a look of a picture of the City of Jerusalem.

This is Jerusalem during the Old Testament.

An this is Jerusalem during New Testament.

There are 3 valleys in the City of Jerusalem.

  1. Kidron Valley
  2. Hinnom Valley
  3. Tyropean Valley
The dark brown color are those 3 valleys, and as we can see, those 3 valleys shape the letter SHIN - שׁ, which identic with the Name. The 3 valleys in Jerusalem make a perfect Hebrew letter SHIN - שׁ. Remember, when King David first conquered this area and settled it as his capital city, he would have had no way of knowing that this city was sitting on top of the Name of G-d. Yet, it was the place where God took him and told him, "this is the place where I have put My Name".

Yes, amen! Jerusalem sits on top of the Name of G-d!

Besides those 3 valleys, the city of Jerusalem was also made up of 3 mountain heads.

  1. Mount Ophel.
  2. Mount Moriah.
  3. Mount Zion.
1 city has 3 heads, it exactly the same as a description of Trinity. 1 G-d has 3 distinct Persons.

Now let us elaborate it one by one.

Mount Ophel
In the Bible the word "Ophel" was first written in 2Ch 27:3.

2Ch 27:3  KJV
He built the high gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of Ophel [עפל - ‛ôphel] he built much.

The word "ophel" means : "fortress, emerod, fort, strong hold, tower". It represents God the Father, especially in the book of Psalms.

Psa 61:3  KJV
For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

Psa 91:2  KJV
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Nah 1:7  KJV
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

Y-H-V-H is our Strong Tower, our Fortress, our Strong Hold. So Mount Ophel in Jerusalem represents God the Father, Y-H-V-H.

Mount Moriah
In the Bible the word "Moriah" was very famous when King Solomon began to build house of the LORD in Mount Moriah.

2Ch 3:1  KJV
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah [מריּה - môrı̂yâh], where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

The word "Moriah" means "seen of Yah".

Strong's Dictionary :
H4179
מריּה    מוריּה
môrı̂yâh  môrı̂yâh
From râ'âh and Yâh; seen of Yah; MoriYah, a hill in Jerusalem: - Moriah.

In 2Ch 3:1 we read that King Solomon built the House of the LORD, and at the same place when LORD appeared to David his father. It was on Mount Moriah, when King David saw Y-H-V-H, it was on Mount Moriah when Abraham tried to crucify his only begotten son, Isaac.

And only in Yeshua HaMashiach, the Son of God, Ben Elohim, we see Y-H-V-H. Only Yeshua HaMashiach the only begotten Son of God who was crucified for all of us.

So Mount Moriah in Jerusalem  represents God the Son, Yeshua HaMashiach.

Mount Zion
Psa 125:1  KJV
A Song of degrees. They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion [ציּון
tsı̂yôn], which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever
.

The word "Zion" came from Hebrew word "tsı̂yôn" and is derived from Hebrew word "tsı̂yûn".

H6726
ציּון
tsı̂yôn
The same (regular) as H6725; Tsiyon (as a permanent capital), a mountain of Jerusalem: - Zion.

H6725
ציוּן
tsı̂yûn
From the same as H6723 in the sense of conspicuousness (compare H5329); a monumental or guiding pillar: - sign, title, waymark.

So basically the word "Zion" means : "sign, title, waymark, mark, signpost, monument, sealed". It is the same description as the Holy Spirit as described in Eph 1:13.

Eph 1:13  KJV
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

So, as the Holy Spirit is a Mark, or a Sign or a Sealed for the believers in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ), Mount Zion represent God the Holy Spirit.

Hallelu-Yah!

In Jerusalem, G-d's Name is forever!

2Ch 33:4  KJV
Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.

Blessing in Yeshua's Name.

  1. Excellent reference study, Andre.
Can you also write about "those called by His name?" I'm sure it includes Christians. What name in the respect of Christians.
    Isa 43:6-7
I will say to the north, 'Give them up!'
and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.'
    Bring my sons from afar
and my daughters from the ends of the earth--
7 everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
    whom I formed and made."

    Also check out Isaiah 49:
It seems Messiah is synonomous to Israel here, although it becomes more just about Israel further on... it shows how integral Israel is Elohim's plan of salvation. Israel is as much a testimony of Elohim's faithfulness and credibility as Yeshua. If Israel could be destroyed, Elohim would have no credibility - something most Christians don't realize.

  2. Shalom Holy Land Camping (...sorry I still don't know your name),

    Isa 43:6 KJV
    I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
    Isa 43:7 KJV
Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

We understand that "Israel" is called by His Name.

    Isa 43:1 KJV
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

Israel = ישׂראל - Yisra El(YOD-SHIN-RESH-ALEPH-LAMED). It is derived from Hebrew word "Sârâh" and "El".

The word "El" comes from a root word meaning "might, strength, power". The basic form "El" appears over 250 times in the Tanakh. Appears primarily in construct relation when describing the God of Israel.

So, in Isa 43:7 the one that is called by God's Name is Israel, the nation of Israel, the Jewish people. And since the Gentiles believers in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) are grafted to the Jewish people based on Romans 11:16, then Gentiles believers are also called by God's Name.

    Rom 11:17 KJV
    And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

Besides, Gentiles believers, they have the Mark which is the Holy Spirit, because they have been bought by the price of blood of our Lord.

    Blessing in Yeshua's Name.

  3. That's true. Many Christians do not realize how important Israel is. Please pray for them so they would know that Israel existance is important especially now.

Remember, Elohim will establish the Messianic Kingdom on earth, He will restore the throne of David in Yeshua. He will restore the nation Israel completely.

  5. It's amazing how the Israelites honor their God and HIS Word.
That what should be done to believer in Yeshua!
They must write the Word of God in their heart with indelible ink also with special pen which is the Holy Spirit.

  6. It's good article, Bro..
It's very amazing as it says in God's word (the scripture), God's names are written on Jerusalem itself..
    Thanks for sharing Bro..

Btw I'd like to ask you, Bro is that true Yah is the shortened of God's name itself ?
The Sacred Name Movement use this word Yah to say God's name Yahweh and the son of God's name is Yahushua. And the HalleluYah means praise the Lord, and the word of Yah it self they use to confirm what they believe is true..
I guess, this is very misleading and they don't understand the grammatical of the Hebrew words..

  7. Thank you for your input, Andre.
Batya Wootten commented on Facebook about Messiah and Israel being so cosely linked. She said:
Yes, Yeshua is the "servant" named "Israel" who is appointed to gather "Israel."

  8. Shalom Sis,

Sorry for the late of my reply. Still on a trip.

The Name of "Yah" is a biblical Name. It consist of Hebrew letter YOD and HEY (YOD-HEY) (יהּ) and can be found in : Exo 15:2; Psa 68:4 etc.

    Exo 15:2 KJV
The LORD [יהּ - Yah] is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

    Psa 68:4 KJV
Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH [יהּ - Yah], and rejoice before him.

That's true Sis, the Name of "Yah" is a shortened form of Y-H-V-H. This Name of God occurs about 50 times in the Tanakh.

And also true that the letter YOD-HEY are pronounced as "Yah", but this is not a legitimation to say that YOD-HEY-VAV-HEY (Y-H-V-H) will be pronounced as "Yahveh" or "Yahweh".

    No!

    Why?

Because it is written in :

    Lev 22:32 KJV
Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you,

Since the Name is too Holy to be pronounced, so to play it safe, the Jewish people honor the Name and pronounce the Name of Y-H-V-H as "Adonai" (in religious meeting) or "HaShem" (in every conversation).

There are some people who, despite the educated uncertainty of careful scholarship and Jewish tradition, pretend to "truly" understand the phonetics of the Sacred Name and offer to "restore it" to those of us willing to be initiated into their secret knowledge.

For example, there are some who want to use a "W" for the VAV in the Name, and then permutate the vowels to find a favored reading.

This is a dubious practice, however, since even our English idea of "W" is laden with cultural biases, and no practicable equivalence can reasonably be made.

Language, in other words, is about meaning, not about technique.

To be honest, I consider the search for a conjuration of the Sacred Name to be a form of gnostic occultism, symptomatic of people who elevate spiritual technique and "abracadabra" above the shared meaning of the "Presence of God."

So it is better to stick what Paul had written in Romans 11:17, as we are grafted into them (the Jewish people), let us honor how the Jewish people address the Almighty God, rather than pretending to "truly" understand the phonetics of the Sacred Name, like those are in Sacred Name Movement.

    Blessing in Yeshua's Name.

  10. Thanks Bro for the informative answer..
Yes, SNM follower need to learn the grammatical of Hebrew words before they use their claim is correct, besides they get rid off the part of the books are written by Paul, that's very misleading..
So they don't believe what it's written in Romans 11:7, either...

    Yeshua HaMashiach bless you too
