Jewish New Testament Commentary :

"CHAMETZ" or "LEAVEN" is familiar to the Jews during the Passover. Here it could stand for "SIN, WRONG IDEAS or UNGODLY PEOPLE".

("One bad apple spoils the barrel").

See 1Co 5:6- 8, where Sha 'ul quotes the same popular proverb.

Deu 4:2 - Ye shall NOT ADD unto the word which I command you, NEITHER shall ye DIMINISH ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Are we to compromise the TRUTH for the sake of unity or is the TRUTH to be the source of our unity? Which one is better, "DIVIDED BY THE TRUTH" or "UNITED IN ERROR"?

TORAH is RELATIONSHIP

TORAH is a relationship, NOT a religion. Human religion seeks to “re-bind” the rift between our Creator and mankind with contrived efforts and rituals invented by men, often inherited from Pagan cultures (not ordained by Y-H-V-H).

TORAH is the foundation for the relationship, and the Creator consistently refers to TORAH as a MARRIAGE COVENANT between Himself and His people (Jews and non-Jews who worship Y-H-V-H). He will never break it, and changes not.

All mankind is designed to be His people (the Bride) through observance of TORAH, and Yeshua is the Mediator of the Covenant.

(see Eph 3:8-13; Isa 55 - 56; Jer 3).

The objective of TORAH is :
to teach us LOVE for Y-H-V-H, and LOVE for our neighbor. TORAH is a relationship.

Those of us who are teaching others to obey TORAH are doing it out of love. If people ignore TORAH, they reject what Yeshua would bring to them and write upon their hearts.

Anti-TORAH say, The LAW [TORAH] is just for the Jews. We, Gentiles are not obligated to it. Is that true? Let's see what the Bible says.

CHRISTIANITY is Jewish

1. CHRISTIANITY is Jewish.
2. Antisemitism is UN-CHRSITIAN.
3. Refusing or neglecting to evangelize Jews is ANTISEMITIC.

Why?

Because some facts that are UN-DEBATABLE :

1. For years all the discipe of Yeshua were Jewish.
2. The New Testament was entirely written by Jews.
3. The concept of Messiah is nothing but Jewish.
4. Yeshua Himself was Jewish.
5. It was Jews who brought the Gospel to Gentiles.
6. Paul / Rabbi Sha'ul, the chief emissary to the Gentiles was an observant Jew all his life.
7. The Messiah's atonement is rooted in the Jewish sacrificial system / the LAW.
8. The Lord's Supper is actually Jewish Passover Feast.
9. Baptism is a Jewish practice.
10. Tithing is a Jewish practice.

The entire New Testament is built on the Hebrew Bible (Tanach), with its prophecies and its promise of New Covenant, so that the New Testament without the Old is as impossible as the second floor of house without the first.

The Gospel message, in the context of Messianic faith is a Jewish thing. And the root of Christianity is Jewish which is known as Judaism. The first Yeshua's Believers in the book of Acts were known as MESSIANIC JUDAISM.

Eph 5:11
And have NO fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather REPROVE them.

In his book "Destined to reign", Ps. Joseph Prince teaches :

* No sense of remorse/understanding of guilt is needed for salvation. One only needs to change one's mind to "REPENT".

(p.233). "When John the Baptist said, "REPENT, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand" he was essentially saying, "CHANGE YOUR MIND, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand"...When you begin to receive the revelation that you are no longer under the old covenant law, but are now under the new covenant of grace, the Bible calls that REPENTANCE.

What the Bible says :

Act 21:20
And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which BELIEVE; and they are all zealous of the LAW:

When the disciples became BELIEVERS in Yeshua (REPENTANCE), they became zealous of the LAW / TORAH.

Rom 3:31
Do we then make void the LAW through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the LAW.

It is "GOD FORBID" to make void the LAW / TORAH, Paul instead established the LAW through his writings.

* The salvation prayer contains no apology or sense of guilt for sin.

(p.314) "Lord Jesus, thank you for dieing for me on the cross. Your precious blood washes me clean of my every sin. You are my Lord and saviour, now and forever. I believe that you rose from the dead and that you are alive today. Because of your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God and heaven is my home. Thank You for giving me eternal life, and filling my heart with peace and joy."

No apology or sense of guilt for sin???

What the Bible says :

Mat 6:12
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

In Hebraic perspective, SINS is  חובי, "DEBTS".

Luk 11:4
And forgive us our SINS; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Please read Luk 18:9-14.

REPENTANCE is shown in the Bible to be ESSENTIAL FOR SALVATION.

* He teaches that as Christians we should no longer be conscious of sin.

(page 186).Chapter 14 of Destined to Reign is titled: No more consciousness of sin and teaches that to be conscious of sin is to have an evil conscience: an "evil conscience is a conscience which is constantly conscious of your sin"

(page 134) "The holy spirit never convicts you of your sins. He never comes to point out any of your faults."

What the Bible says :

1Jn 3:4
Whosoever committeth SIN transgresseth also the LAW: for SIN is the transgression of the LAW.

SIN = TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW.

If a person no need to be conscious of SIN, that means a person no need to know his/her transgression of the LAW.

1Jn 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

* He teaches that we don't need to fast (p.274-277) and Joseph Prince explains that he does not intentionally fast.

What the Bible says :

Act 27:9
Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the FAST was now already past, Paul admonished them,

This was the Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur, which was the grand fast of the Jews, on which day they afflicted their souls.

In the New Testament, the FAST was still done, because it is written.

Throughout his book, Ps Joseph Prince shows that he had a terrible sense of condemnation in old churches. He seems to have thrown the baby out with the bath water. He has changed the meaning of the word REPENTANCE and its teaching accordingly. People love this book because it makes you feel so free...free to never have to repent ever again...free from any consciousness of SIN. This is NOT biblical.

He uses many examples when Yeshua just said to people your sins are forgiven. In all these cases...it is clear that the individual already had a contrite heart. If you have contrite heart and hate your sin, when you turn to Yeshua you are repenting. If you think you sin is not all that bad but Yeshua seems great and turn to Him...you are not repenting and are not saved. Don't be fooled!! This teaching is becoming so common and is deceiving even the elect (if that were possible).

JESUS that we worship has His Hebrew's Name : [ישֵׁועַ] YESHUA.

Isaiah says : Isaiah 9
YESHUA is [אֵל גִבוֹר] EL GIBBOR : THE ALMIGHTY GOD.
YESHUA is [שַׂר שָׁלוֹם] SAR SHALOM : PRINCE OF PEACE.
YESHUA is [אבי-עד] AVI-AD : EVERLASTING FATHER.

Matthew says : Matthew 2
YESHUA is [מֶלֶךְ היְהודִים] MELECH HA'YEHUDIM : KING OF THE JEWS.

John says : John 1
YESHUA is [מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל] MELECH ISRAEL : KING OF ISRAEL.

YESHUA is [πληρησ χαριτοσ] PLERES CARITOS : FULL OF GRACE.

YESHUA is [αληθειασ] ALETHEIAS : TRUTH.

Note :
Let's read again John 1:14.

And the WORD was made flesh, and DWELT among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) FULL OF GRACE and TRUTH.

We do NOT reject His GRACE, YESHUA is FULL OF GRACE. That's AMEN! But let's see about His TRUTH.

What is TRUTH?

Psa 119:142
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy LAW is the TRUTH.

Joh 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy WORD is TRUTH.

1Jo 2:3-4
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. He that saith, I know him, and KEEPETH NOT his COMMANDMENTS, is a LIAR, and the TRUTH is not in him.

So, what is the TRUTH?
Psalm 119:142 says, TRUTH is THE LAW / TORAH.
John 17:17 says, TRUTH is THE WORD OF GOD.
1 John 2:3-4 says, TRUTH is KEEPING HIS COMMANDMENTS / LAW / TORAH.

So, let's go back to John 1:14. John says, YESHUA is FULL OF GRACE and TRUTH. YESHUA is FULL OF GRACE and TORAH.

If we believe in YESHUA, that's good. That means you have FAITH in HIM. But this FAITH is NOT PERFECT yet. Why? Because the devils also believe / have FAITH that YESHUA is Son of God.

Jas 2:19
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

What is the thing that make a difference between BELIEVERS IN YESHUA and devils?

BELIEVERS IN YESHUA :
1. They have FAITH.
2. They have WORKS (OBEDIENCE TO TORAH).

Devils :
1. They have FAITH.
2. They do NOT have WORKS (They are TRANSGRESSORS OF THE LAW / TORAH).

1Jo 3:4

So, how is mankind justified?

Jas 2:24
Ye see then how that by WORKS a man is justified, and not by FAITH only.

Mankind is justified by FAITH and WORKS (OBEDIENCE TO TORAH). Look at Abraham as example.

Abraham was justified by FAITH :
Gen 15:6
And he BELIEVED in the LORD; and he counted it to him for RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Abraham was also justified by WORKS (OBEDIENCE TO TORAH) :
Gen 22:1-19.

Jas 2:21
Was not Abraham our father justified by WORKS, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

This is JESUS / YESHUA that we worship. HE is FULL OF GRACE and TRUTH / TORAH.

We are justified by our FAITH in HIM and our WORKS OF OBEDIENCE TO HIS TORAH.

FAITH without WORKS is DEAD.

Jas 2:20
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that FAITH without WORKS is dead?

I know that maybe some of you will quote Paul's writing in Romans 3:28.

Rom 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by FAITH without the DEEDS OF THE LAW.

We must be CAREFULL on examining Paul's writing, otherwise we'll be DEAD because misunderstand Paul's writing. This is not what I said, this is what Peter said in 2 Peter 3:16

2Pe 3:16
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things HARD TO BE UNDERSTOOD, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

What did Paul mean by the DEEDS OF THE LAW? It comes from Greek word [εργων νομου] ERGON NOMOU. The word [εργων] ERGON means PRODUCT; DEED; LABOUR.

Paul used the word [εργων νομου] ERGON NOMOU and that means PRODUCTS OF THE LAW / TORAH; DEEDS OF THE LAW / TORAH.

What is PRODUCT OF THE LAW / TORAH?

I share you an example : Mar 7:3-5.

The TORAH says about FOOD in Leviticus 11. But the PRODUCT OF THE TORAH is WASHING HAND / NETILAT HA'DAYIM.

The TRUTH is :
Lev 11 is a KOSHER FOOD. Once we say FOOD, that means KOSHER. The KOSHER FOOD can NOT be NON KOSHER just because one doesn't do NETILAT HA'DAYIM.

NETILAT HA'DAYIM is PRODUCT OF THE LAW.

This is what Paul meant in Rom 3:28. We are justified by FAITH, NOT by the PRODUCT OF THE LAW. And James in James 2:24, he made it PERFECT, that man is justified by FAITH and by WORKS (ACT OF OBEDIENCE TO TORAH).

So, who are saying the TORAH now is DONE?

Rom 3:31
Do we then make void the LAW through FAITH? God FORBID: yea, we ESTABLISH the LAW.

Church...this is the GOSPEL that Paul preached. The GOSPEL that establish the LAW / TORAH.

If you heard the GOSPEL who denies the LAW / TORAH, that is OTHER GOSPEL. And about this, Paul says :

Gal 1:8-9
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any OTHER GOSPEL unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be ACCURSED. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any OTHER GOSPEL unto you than that ye have received, let him be ACCURSED.

Who was BALAAM, the son of Beor (Num 22:5)?

The name BALAAM in Hebrew is [ִבְּלָע ם - BIL'AM].
It comes from Hebrew word [ַבּל - BAL] = NOT and the word [ַע ם - AM] = PEOPLE. The name [ִבְּלָע ם - BIL'AM] means = NOT OF THE PEOPLE; MAD MAN.

BALAAM was from Aram (ancient Mesopotamia/Syria). He was a Mesopotamian seer, pagan prophet or soothsayer, that Balak, king of Moab, hired to curse Israel because he was afraid of what Israel might do to Moab (Num 22:5, Num 22:7-10). The name also may mean something like "SWALLOWER OF A PEOPLE". Notice the Hebrew word [ָבַּלע - BALA] = "TO SWALLOW, TO DEVOUR, TO ENGULF".

So, by any means, BALAAM was a BAD GUY. He was regarded as a great seer, magician and an adept in the occult. He had an "evil eye" and drew the spirit of demons to anything he gazed upon.

Note that the name "Beor" first appears in connection with a king of Edom (Gen 36:32), which suggests that BALAAM might have once been a king of the Edomites (descendants of Esau). Note, however, the phonetic similarity to Peor. If Beor and Peor are the same, then BALAAM was actually a prophet of Baal Peor, a local Semitic god.

He attempted to curse Israel which is an impossible thing. No one-not even a great false prophet-can put a curse on God's people (Jos 24:9-10). The LORD made Balaam to utter one of the greatest prophecies of the Old Testament. He predicted a "star" would come from Judah (David). He later tried to curse Israel to commit spiritual and physical harlotry by following after Baal of Peor (Num 31:8, Num 31:16). This name became a byword of evil, corruption, and false religion in the New Testament also (2Pe 2:15; Jude 11; Rev 2:14). Also, one of his prophecies is preserved from about 750 B.C. witnessing to his fame in the ancient Near East. Micah recalls this incident (Mic 6:5).

The Moabites are cursed because of this incident Deu 23:4. God actually turned Balaam's curse into a blessing. The Israelites later executed Balaam (Jos 13:22).

FULFILL - COMPLETE - πληροω - PLEROO

Think not that I am come to destroy the LAW, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to FULFILL [πληροω - PLEROO].

"Don't think that I have come to abolish the TORAH or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to COMPLETE [πληροω - PLEROO].
