Shalom,

We all know that Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa) was a fisherman and Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul) of Tarsus was a Rabbi.

Based on Galatians 2:7-8, Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa) was sent to the Jewish people, and Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul) was sent to the Gentiles.

Gal 2:7
But contrariwise, when they saw that THE GOSPEL OF THE UNCIRCUMCISION was committed unto ME, as THE GOSPEL OF THE CIRCUMCISION was unto PETER;

Gal 2:8
(For he that wrought effectually in PETER to the apostleship of THE CIRCUMCISION, the same was mighty in ME toward THE GENTILES).

Have you ever wondered why the LORD God (Y-H-V-H Elohim) chose a Fisherman to preach the Good News to the Jews and chose a Rabbi to preach the Good News to the Gentiles?

These are some reasons why :

SIMON PETER (HEBREW : SHIM'ON KEFA)

Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa), his background was a fisherman. He was son of Jona (Hebrew : Yochanan). At the Sea of Galilee, JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA) called him to be fishers of men together with his brother Andrew (Andreas).

Both Simon Peter and his brother Andrew, they were aware of the Old Testament prophecies of the coming of the Messiah. It was Andrew who told his brother Simon they had found the Messiah, which is interpreted, the Christ.

Joh 1:41
He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ

Although he was only a fisherman, but Simon Peter as a Jew, he knew about the prophecy of the incoming Messiah. He knew about the TaNaKh (Torah, Nevi'im and Ketuvim) or the Old Testament Books.

And the most significant point from Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa) is when he was asked by JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA) about who JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA) really was. Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa) answered JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA) by saying HE was the CHRIST (Hebrew : MASHIACH), the Son of the Living God.

JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA) told Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa) he was blessed because it was not flesh and blood who had revealed that to him. Only the Heavenly Father could have told him.

Mat 16:16
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Mat 16:17
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven

The testimony of Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa) about who JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA) really was, this is the reason why he was sent to the Jewish people so that the Jewish people could have the same testimony as Simon Peter (Hebrew : Shim'on Kefa) did.

PAUL OF TARSUS (HEBREW : SHA'UL OF TARSUS)

Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul) was born around the same time as JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA). His given name was Sha'ul and later he would be called Paul because his mission to the Gentiles.

Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul) was a citizen of the capital city of Cilicia, Tarsus. This country was a Roman land located along the river Cydnus. Tarsus was home to a university and Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul) while he was young, he received the best education under directions of Gamaliel, teacher of TORAH.

Act 5: 34
Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, A DOCTOR OF THE LAW, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space.

Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul)'s father was of the tribe of Benjamin, pure and unmixed was his Jewish blood and he was molded it what one would interpret from his youth to adulthood in a staunch and upright character.

This is how Sha'ul identified himself.

Act 22: 3
I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

Act 23: 6
But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

Phi 3:5
Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

Phi 3:6
Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless

Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul) said that he is a JEW, born in TARSUS, educated and taught by GAMALIEL, walked according to the perfect manner of the TORAH or the LAW of his fathers, zealous toward GOD, a PHARISEE, Hebrew of Hebrews, touching the righteousness in the TORAH is BLAMELESS.

This is the man who had been sent by God to the Gentiles, in order the Gentles to follow Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul), as he followed the Messiah, JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA).

1Co 11:1
Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Follow Paul (Hebrew : Sha'ul) as a Pharisee, as Hebrew of Hebrews, as he also followed JESUS (Hebrew : YESHUA).
