TORAH and GRACE

There are many people think that the NEW TESTAMENT is all about GRACE, and THE HEBREW BIBLE (the Old Testament) is all about TORAH. They are trying to separate between TORAH and GRACE.

Is this teaching biblical?

Let's examine together what it is written in the Word of God.

Joh 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of GRACE [χαριτος - ֶחֶסד] and TRUTH [αληθειας - ֱאֶמת].

GRACE
The Greek word of GRACE is χαριτος (CHARITOS).
The Hebrew word of GRACE is חֶסד (CHESED). Hebrew letters CHET-SAMEKH-DALET.

TRUTH
The Greek word of TRUTH is αληθειας (ALETHEIAS).
The Hebrew word of TRUTH is אֶמת (EMET). Hebrew letters ALEPH-MEM-TAV.

In John 1:14, it is said that YESHUA / JESUS is full of GRACE and TRUTH.

There are 2 things to be noticed. GRACE and TRUTH. CHARITOS and ALETHEIAS. CHESED and EMET.

What does the HEBREW BIBLE / TANAKH (the Old Testament) say about these 2?

Psa 85:10
MERCY [ֶחֶסד - CHESED] and TRUTH [אֶמת - EMET] are MET TOGETHER; RIGHTEOUSNESS [ֶצֶדק - TSEDEQ] and PEACE [שׁלוֹם - SHALOM] have kissed each other.

CHESED and EMET are MET TOGETHER. GRACE / MERCY and TRUTH are MET TOGETHER.

Psalm 85:10 = John 1:14 = GRACE and TRUTH are MET TOGETHER.

Psalm 85:10 is talking about GRACE and TRUTH. And also John 1:14 is talking about GRACE and TRUTH.

Who are they trying to SEPARATE GRACE and TRUTH?

As YESHUA / JESUS was full of GRACE and TRUTH in John 1:14, so is the followers of YESHUA / JESUS. We are to "full of GRACE and TRUTH".

What is the GRACE?
The GRACE is one of the characters of G-d. It is mentioned 249 times in the HEBREW BIBLE.

What is the TRUTH?
The TRUTH is His Word (John 17:17). The TRUTH is His Law (Psalm 119:142). The TRUTH is His TORAH (Psalm 119:142). It is mentioned 127 times in the HEBREW BIBLE (the Old Testament).

Now, if John 1:14 says :

Joh 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us...full of GRACE [χαριτος - ֶחֶסד] and TRUTH [αληθειας - ֱאֶמת].

And we also know that the GRACE and the TRUTH are MET TOGETHER :

Psa 85:10
MERCY [ֶחֶסד - CHESED] and TRUTH [אֶמת - EMET] are MET TOGETHER...

From John 17:17, TRUTH = HIS WORD.
From Psalm 119:142, TRUTH = HIS LAW = HIS TORAH.

Why are there some people trying to SEPARATE GRACE and TORAH?

The Bible says "GRACE and TRUTH (TORAH) are MET TOGETHER". Why do they want to SEPARATE these 2?

I don't know why, but for sure the teaching that is trying to SEPARATE GRACE and TORAH is NOT biblical.

Bahasa Indonesia :

Dan kata אֶמת (EMET) lebih tepat diterjemahkan sebagai KEBENARAN. Bukan KESETIAAN.

Kata חֶסד

Kata אֶמת

Sekarang, jika Yohanes 1:14 mengatakan :

Yohanes 1:14

YESHUA and TORAH

What does YESHUA / JESUS say about TORAH?

Mat 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the LAW [תָּרה - TORAH], or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to FULFILL [πληρόω - PLEROOSAI - TO MAKE FULL / COMPLETE].

Mat 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the LAW [תָּרה - TORAH], till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least COMMANDMENTS [מִצְוָה - MITZVAH], and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Luk 16:17
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the LAW [תָּרה - TORAH] to fail.

Example from the Pharisees

Mat 5:20
For I say unto you, That EXCEPT YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS shall exceed the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE SCRIBES and PHARISEES, YE SHALL NO CASE ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.

PHARISEES, in Hebrew is PERUSHIM, comes from the word [פרוש - PARUSH], meaning SEPARATED.

A PHARISEE is a school of thought among the Jews on the the Second Temple Era (536 BC–70 AD). The prophet Ezra the Scribe and the men of the Great Assembly (כְּנֶסֶת הַגְּדוֹלָה) are considered the precursors of the PHARISEE movement.

The PERUSHIM focused on the TORAH and what it requires of ordinary people. They didn't focus on the Temple ritual.

This is the kind of character that Lord YESHUA / JESUS gives reward to them..."FOCUS on the TORAH".

PASSOVER - UNLEAVENED BREAD - FIRSTFRUIT - PENTECOST

PASSOVER - UNLEAVENED BREAD - FIRSTFRUIT - PENTECOST

Shalom,

Season of Liberation

From Leviticus 23 we understand :

Lev 23:4
These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

PASSOVER :
Lev 23:5
In the FOURTEENTH DAY  of the first month at evening is the LORD'S PASSOVER.

Note :
Because biblical date starts at SUNSET, so the new day always starts at SUNSET. If in Leviticus 23:5 says, "In the FOURTEENTH DAY  of the first month at evening" that means :

The feast of PASSOVER = 15 Nisan.

Nisan = the 1st month in biblical calendar.

Because Yeshua / Jesus is the PASSOVER Lamb Himself, He had an early PASSOVER Seder on 14 Nisan evening instead of on 15 Nisan.

UNLEAVENED BREAD :
Lev 23:6
And on the FIFTEENTH DAY of the same month is the FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD unto the LORD: SEVEN DAYS ye must eat unleavened bread.
Lev 23:7
In the FIRST DAY ye shall have an HOLY CONVOCATION: ye shall do no servile work therein.
Lev 23:8
But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the SEVENTH DAY is an HOLY CONVOCATION: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Note :
The feast of UNLEAVENED BREAD = 15 Nisan - 22 Nisan. There are 7 DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD.

The 1st DAY OF UNLEAVENED BREAD = 15 Nisan = HIGH SHABBAT = BIG SHABBAT = HOLY CONVOCATION = a "HIGH SHABBAT" is a day of REST that may occur on any day of the week besides the weekly Shabbat day of Saturday.

The 7th DAY OF UNLEAVENED BREAD = 22 Nisan = HIGH SHABBAT = BIG SHABBAT = HOLY CONVOCATION = a "HIGH SHABBAT" is a day of REST that may occur on any day of the week besides the weekly Shabbat day of Saturday.

FIRSTFRUIT :
Lev 23:10
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the FIRSTFRUITS of your harvest unto the priest:
Lev 23:11
And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: ON THE MORROW AFTER THE SABBATH the priest shall wave it.
Lev 23:12
And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD.

Note :
In Leviticus 23:11 says, "...ON THE MORROW AFTER THE SABBATH the priest shall wave it."
That means :
ON THE DAY FOLLOWING THE HIGH SHABBAT OF THE 1st DAY UNLEAVENED BREAD = ON THE DAY AFTER 15 Nisan = ON 16 NISAN = the priest shall wave the offering to the LORD.

That means :
The feast of FIRSTFRUITS = 17 Nisan

PENTECOST
Lev 23:15
And ye shall count unto you FROM THE MORROW AFTER THE SABBATH, FROM THE DAY THAT YE BROUGHT THE SHEAF OF THE WAVE OFFERING; SEVEN SABBATHS shall be complete:
Lev 23:16
Even unto the morrow after THE SEVENTH SABBATH shall ye number FIFTHY DAYS; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
Note :
From the feast of FIRSTFRUIT we must add 7 SHABBATS or 7 WEEKS to get the feast of PENTECOST.

So, now we have all the dates of the feasts of PASSOVER - UNLEAVENED BREAD - FIRSTFRUIT - PENTECOST.

PASSOVER = 15 Nisan.
UNLEAVENED BREAD = 15 Nisan - 22 Nisan.
FIRSTFRUIT = 17 Nisan.
PENTECOST = 7 WEEKS from 17 Nisan = 6 Sivan - 7 Sivan.

Now, let us see how Yeshua / Jesus fits all of these FEASTS.

14 Nisan evening - Yeshua's early Seder (Wednesday night)
14 Nisan daylight - "Preparation day" (Luke 23:54; Mark 15:42) for PASSOVER. Yeshua died Thursday afternoon at the same time that the korban PESACH (PASSOVER Lamb) was sacrificed at the Temple and was buried before sundown.

15 Nisan evening - The High Shabbat of PASSOVER begins (the actual Seder night) or the 1st DAY UNLEAVENED BREAD.
15 Nisan daylight - The High Shabbat of PASSOVER (Friday before sundown) or the 1st DAY UNLEAVENED BREAD.

16 Nisan evening - The Weekly Shabbat begins (Friday after sundown) or the 2nd DAY UNLEAVENED BREAD.
16 Nisan daytime - Weekly Shabbat, waving of the omer (Saturday) or the 2nd DAY UNLEAVENED BREAD.

17 Nisan evening - Yeshua was resurrected some time before sunrise on Sunday or the 3rd DAY UNLEAVENED BREAD.
17 Nisan daytime - Women bring spices to the tomb early in the morning. Disciples encounter risen Messiah or the 3rd DAY UNLEAVENED BREAD.

From 17 Nisan we COUNT 7 WEEKS to get the feast of PENTECOST.

PENTECOST = the day when God gave Moses the Law (the 2 tablets) = the day when God gave the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem.

Regarding the RESURRECTION, the Bible says :

Mat 28:1
In the end of the SABBATH, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Mat 28:1

Mat 28:1
opse [In the end] de [of] sabbaton [the SABBATH] te [as it] ephiposkouse [dawn] eis [toward] mian [first] sabbaton [SHABBAT] elthen [came] maria [Mary] he [the] magdalene [Magdalene] kai [and] he [the] alle [other] maria [Maria] theoresai [to see] ton [the] taphon [sepulchre]
Mat 28:1 in the Manuscript actually does NOT say the word "day". Actually the English translator added the word "day". The original Manuscript says :

Mat 28:1
In the end of the SABBATH, as it began to dawn toward the FIRST WEEK, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

As we read Leviticus 23:15-16, there should be 7 SHABBATS or 7 WEEKS. So in Mat 28:1 actually Mary Magdalene came to the sepulchre when it started the countdown 7 WEEKS. On the 1st WEEK, they found Yeshua / Jesus was risen already.

So Yeshua / Jesus was risen on 17 Nisan = on the feast of FIRSTFRUIT as is written in 1 Co 15:20 and 1 Co 15:23.

1Co 15:20
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the FIRSTFRUIT of them that slept.

1Co 15:23
But every man in his own order: Christ the FIRSTFRUIT; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

The Truth about EASTER

EASTER by definition of Encyclopedia Britannica : "The English word EASTER, which parallels the German word OSTERN, is of uncertain origin. One view, expounded by the Venerable Bede in the 8th century, was that it derived from EOSTRE, or EOSTRAE, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and fertility".

In the Bible :

Act 12:3
And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Act 12:4
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after EASTER to bring him forth to the people.

Note :
King Herod was a pagan king. He did NOT celebrate PASSOVER and UNLEAVENED BREAD. But on his day, he was celebrating EASTER, the Roman feast in the Spring, a pagan feast.
