Shalom chaverim,

PARASHAT RE'EH starts with the word RE'EH ראה, literally means "TO SEE"

Devarim (Deutoronomy) 11:26-28
26 “SEE, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, which I command you today, 28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today, to go after other gods that you have not known.

PEARL NO.1:
------------------
What is the meaning of RE'EH? Is it just literally "TO SEE?"

The word RE'EH literally means "TO SEE", but in this context parashat RE'EH, G-D wants us TO SEE beyond our eyes can see. G-D wants us TO SEE with our spiritual eyes to His promises. Things may go un-planned in our carnal eyes, but G-D wants us TO SEE like Avraham Avinu saw.

Romans 4:19-22
9 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb. 20 No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of G-D, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to G-D, 21 fully convinced that G-D was able to do what he had promised. 22 That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.”

PEARL NO.2:
------------------
FREEWILL is not Christian's concept. FREEWILL is a concept that has been taught in Judaism, way before Christianity was born. In Judaism, FREEWILL is called BECHIRAH CHOFSHIT בחירה חפשית.

Rabbi Akiva says in Pirkei Avot 3:19
"Rabbi Akiva said: All is foreseen, but freedom of choice is given. The world is judged in goodness, yet all is proportioned to one's work."

BECHIRAH CHOFSHIT בחירה חפשית is a fundamental principle in Judaism.

PEARL NO.3:
------------------
BLESSING [BERACHA ברכה] or CURSE [KELALAH קללה], you have FREEWILL to choose.

Devarim (Deutoronomy) 11:26
“SEE, I am setting before you today a BLESSING and a CURSE:

How do we get G-D's BLESSING?
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:27
the BLESSING, if you OBEY the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, which I command you TODAY,

There are 3 important words, we must notice, they are: BLESSING ---> OBEY the commandments ---> TODAY.

There is only 1 way to get G-D's BLESSING, that is: "OBEDIENCE to His commandments." And the OBEDIENCE requires action TODAY, not later, not tomorrow, not next week, not next month. But TODAY. Do not delay it.

In Hebrew is HA'YOM היום.

Next, I believe no one wants the part. How do we get G-D's CURSE?
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:28
and the CURSE, if you DO NOT OBEY the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you TODAY...

There are 3 important words, we must notice, they are: CURSE ---> DO NOT OBEY the commandments ---> TODAY.

There is also 1 way to get G-D's CURSE, that is: "DISOBEDIENCE to His commandments." If we DISOBEY TODAY, then CURSE will be upon us.

PEARL NO.4:
------------------
Devarim (Deutoronomy) 12:8
“You shall not do according to all that we are doing here today, everyone doing whatever is right in his own eyes,

In TODAY's world, there are many people do whatever is right in their own eyes. There are many people, they just do not care with the RIGHTEOUSNESS of G-D in the Torah. There are many people, they just make their own righteousness, built their own theology. This is chaos.

But, in parashat RE'EH, we are reminded, that we are to be careful to do all the STATUTES [CHUKIM חוקים] and the RULES [MISHPATIM משפטים] TODAY, not later, not tomorrow, but TODAY.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:32
you shall be careful to do all STATUTES [CHUKIM חוקים] and RULES [MISHPATIM משפטים] that I am setting before you TODAY.

Be remembered, STATUTES [CHUKIM חוקים] are decrees given without rational reasons. They are SUPRA-RATIONAL decrees. In other words, do not ask the reason why, just obey it.

There are many decrees in the Torah are categorised as CHUKIM חוקים.

PEARL NO.5:
------------------
Devarim (Deutoronomy) 12:9-10
9 for you have not as yet come to the REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] and to the inheritance that ADONAI your G-D is giving you. 10 But when you go over the Jordan and live in the land that ADONAI your G-D is giving you to inherit, and when He gives you REST from all your enemies around, so that you live in safety,

What REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] is G-D talking about?

The Hebrew word MENUCHAH מנוחה is related to the Hebrew word MENACHEM מנחם. One of the Name of the Messiah according Talmud Babylonia Tractate Sanhedrin 98b is MENACHEM מנחם.

Sanhedrin 98b
"R. Johanan said: For the sake of the Messiah. What is his [the Messiah's] Name? — The School of R. Shila said: His name is Shiloh, for it is written, until Shiloh come. The School of R. Yannai said: His name is Yinnon, for it is written, His name shall endure for ever: e'er the sun was, his name is Yinnon. The School of R. Haninah maintained: His name is Chaninah, as it is written, Where I will not give you Chaninah. Others say: His name is Menachem the son of Hezekiah, for it is written, Because Menachem ['the Comforter'], that would relieve my soul, is far. The Rabbis said: His name is 'the leper scholar,' as it is written, Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him a leper, smitten of God, and afflicted."

MENACHEM מנחם, starts with letter MEM מ
SHILOH שילה, starts with letter SHIN ש
YINNON ינון, starts with letter YUD י
CHANANIAH חנניה, starts with letter CHET ח

If we take all the first letters above, we find the word MASHIACH משיח.

The REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] in Devarim (Deutoronomy) 12:9 is related to MENACHEM מנחם, and the REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] is the MASHIACH משיח.

Rabbi Sha'ul in Hebrew 3:18-19
18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוח, which is the MASHIACH משיח], but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.

Yeshua Himself in Matityahu 11:28 explains that He is the REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוח, which is the MASHIACH משיח]

Matityahu (Matthew) 11:28
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST.

CONCLUSION:
Practicing TORAH without YESHUA is like those people in the wilderness who disbelieved in G-D. They were failed to enter the REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה].

Believe in G-D, believe in the Messiah but without practicing the Torah is also like those people who did not love G-D. Because OBEDIENCE is a sign of LOVE. If one keeps and obeys the Torah, he is showing his love to G-D.

Yochanan (John) 14:15; 21
15 If you have ahavah for me, you will be shomer mitzvot regarding my commandments. [Ps 103:18]
21 The one having the mitzvot of me and being shomer mitzvot, that one is the one having ahavah for me. And the one having ahavah for me will receive ahavah from Ha'Av of me, and I will have ahavah for him and I will manifest myself to him.
