KETAHUILAH DI HADAPAN SIAPA KAMU BERDIRI

Mikha 6:8

da lifne mi atah omed
ketahuilah di hadapan siapa kamu berdiri

PNINEI HA'TORAH (PERMATA-PERMATA TORAH) - PARASHAT KI TEITZEI

PNINEI HA'TORAH (PERMATA-PERMATA TORAH) - PARASHAT KI TEITZEI
Andre Widodo
© ORI

Shalom chaverim,

lo-yih.ye ch'li-ge.ver al-i.sha v'lo-yil.bash ge.ver sim.lat i.sha ki to.a.vat a.do.nai e.lo.hei.cha kol-o.se e.le:

lo-ya.vo a.mo.ni u.mo.a.vi bik.hal a.do.nai gam dor a.si.ri lo-ya.vo la.hem bik.hal a.do.nai ad-o.lam:

Di sini sebagai Mesianik Judaisme kita belajar bahwa TORAH TERTULIS תורה שבכתב tidak dapat dipisahkan dari TORAH LISAN תורה שבעל פה.

"Yevamot 76b
MISHNA:
An Ammonite and a Moabite are forbidden and their prohibition is forever, Their women, however, are permitted at once. An Egyptian and an Edomite are forbidden only until the third generation. Whether they are males or females. R. Simeon, however, permits their women forthwith. Said R. Simeon: This law might be inferred a minori ad majus: If where the males are forbidden for all time the females are permitted forthwith, how much more should the females be permitted forthwith where the males are forbidden until the third generation only. They replied: If this is an halachah, we shall accept it;  But if it is only an inference, an objection can be pointed out. He replied: Not so. [But in fact] it is an halachah that I am reporting.

GEMARA:
Whence are these laws inferred? — R. Johanan replied: Scripture stated, And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said into Abner, the captain of the host: ‘Abner, whose son is this youth’? And Abner said: ‘As thy soul liveth, O King, I cannot tell’. But did he not know him? Surely it is written, And he loved him greatly; and he became his armour bearer! — He rather made the inquiry concerning his father. But did he not know his father? Surely it is written, And the man was an old man in the days of Saul, stricken in years among them; and Rab or, it might be said, R. Abba, stated that this referred to the father of David, Jesse. who came in with an army and went out with an army!— It is this that Saul meant: Whether he descended from Perez, or from Zerah. If he descended from Perez he would be king, for a king breaks for himself a way and no one can hinder him. If, however, he is descended from Zerah he would only be an important man. What is the reason why he gave instructions that enquiry be made concerning him? — Because it is written, And Saul clad David with his apparel. being of the same size as his, and about Saul it is written, From his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people. Doeg the Edomite then said to him, ‘Instead of enquiring whether he is fit to be king or not, enquire rather whether he is permitted to enter the assembly or not’! ‘What is the reason’? ‘Because he is descended from Ruth the Moabitess’. Said Abner to him, ‘We learned: An Ammonite, but not an Ammonitess; A Moabite, but not a Moabitess! But in that case a bastard would’ imply: But not a female bastard?’ — ‘It is written mamzer [Which implies] anyone objectionable’. ‘Does then Egyptian exclude the Egyptian woman’? — ‘Here it is different, since the reason for the Scriptural text is explicitly stated: Because they met you not with bread and with water; it is customary for a man to meet [wayfarers]; It is not, however, customary for a woman to meet [them]’."

Kemudian di TALMUD Yevamot 69a:

"Yevamot 69a
For a Master said: An Ammonite, but not an Ammonitess; a Moabite, but not a Moabitess."

PNINEI HA'TORAH (PEARLS OF THE TORAH) - PARASHAT SHOFTIM

PNINEI HA'TORAH (PEARLS OF THE TORAH) - PARASHAT SHOFTIM
Andre Widodo
© ORI

Shalom chaverim,

One of the pearl in parashat SHOFTIM שפטים next Shabbat is Moshe's prophecy regarding the coming of the Messiah in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 18:15.

Devarim (Deutoronomy) 18:15

na.vi mi.kir.b'cha me.a.chei.cha ka.mo.ni ya.kim l'cha A.DO.NAI e.lo.hei.cha e.lav tish.ma.un:

ADONAI your G-D will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen:

This is the only parashat, and the only chapter in the entire Torah where Moshe explicitly identified himself as a prophet of HA'SHEM and also prophesied the coming Messiah as "a Prophet like me." (Deu 18:15; Joh 6:14).

Notice that:

1.) The coming prophet (Messiah) must be Jewish ("מאחיך from your brothers"). Not from other nations. So any claim by other person, from other nation, mentioning that he was a prophet promised by Moshe, this is actually a lie. The prophet has to be Jewish.

2.) Moshe instructed that to this Messiah, all the children of Israel shall listen to (תשׁמעון).

In the New Testament we read that the soferim (scribes) had sent a delegation to question Yochanan the Immerser, asking him about whether he was the prophet that Moshe prophesied.

"Are you the Prophet?" (Joh 1:21). This referred to Moshe's prophecy that G-D would send "a Prophet like me" (Deu 18:15-19).

Further more, we read that when Philip encountered Nathanael, he said, "We have found Him of whom Moshe in the Torah, and also the prophets, wrote - Yeshua minetzaret ben Yosef" (Joh 1:45).

Another occasion, after Yeshua fed the five thousand, the people began to ask if this was "the Prophet who is to come into the world" (Joh 6:14).

Shimon Kefa identified Yeshua as the Prophet (Act 3:22-23), and in his apologetic before the Sanhedrin, Stephen the martyr declared that Yeshua was the promised Messiah: "This is that Moshe who said to the children of Israel, 'ADONAI your G-D will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.'" (Act 7:37-38).

Indeed, Yeshua is the "Prophet like unto Moshe and He is the Promised Messiah."

How can Yeshua be a Prophet like Moshe? Like Moshe, He was a Jew, a Leader, a Prophet, a Lawgiver, a Savior, a Teacher, a Priest, an Anointed One, a Mediator between G-D and man, He spoke the words of G-D, and like Moshe, He offered himself to die for the sins of the people.

PLURALITY OF G-D IN THE TANAKH (PSALMS 149:2)

PLURALITY OF G-D IN THE TANAKJ (PSLAMS 149:2)

Shalom chaverim,

The Tanakh tells that G-D is the MAKERS (PLURAL). Not the MAKER (SINGULAR).

Tehillim (Psalms) 149:2

yis.mach yis.ra.el b'o.sav b'nei-tsi.yon ya.gi.lu v'mal.kam

Let Israel rejoice in his Makers; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King:

Biarlah Israel bersukacita karena Pencipta-Pencipta-mu, biarlah bani Zion bersorak-sorak atas raja mereka!

In Hebrew, the word
עושה means MAKER (singular). But if we put letter י YOD in the word עושה that means עושיה MAKERS (plural).

Shalom chaverim,

The Tanakh tells that G-D is the CREATORS (PLURAL). Not the CREATOR (SINGULAR).

Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) 12:1

u.ze.chor et-bor.ei.cha bi.mei b'chu.ro.tei.cha ad a.sher lo-ya.vo.u y'mei ha.ra.a v'hi.gi.u sha.nim a.sher to.mar ein-li va.hem che.fets:

Remember then thy Creators in the days of thy youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say: 'I have no pleasure in them:

In Hebrew, the word בורא means CREATOR (singular). But if we put letter י YOD in the word
בורא that means בוראי CREATORS (plural).

PNINEI HA'TORAH (PEARLS OF TORAH) - PARASHAT RE'EH

PNINEI HA'TORAH (PEARLS OF TORAH) - PARASHAT RE'EH
Andre Widodo
© ORI

Shalom chaverim,

PARASHAT RE'EH starts with the word RE'EH ראה, literally means "TO SEE"

Devarim (Deutoronomy) 11:26-28
26 “SEE, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, which I command you today, 28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today, to go after other gods that you have not known.

PEARL NO.1:
------------------
What is the meaning of RE'EH? Is it just literally "TO SEE?"

The word RE'EH literally means "TO SEE", but in this context parashat RE'EH, G-D wants us TO SEE beyond our eyes can see. G-D wants us TO SEE with our spiritual eyes to His promises. Things may go un-planned in our carnal eyes, but G-D wants us TO SEE like Avraham Avinu saw.

Romans 4:19-22
9 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb. 20 No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of G-D, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to G-D, 21 fully convinced that G-D was able to do what he had promised. 22 That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.”

PEARL NO.2:
------------------
FREEWILL is not Christian's concept. FREEWILL is a concept that has been taught in Judaism, way before Christianity was born. In Judaism, FREEWILL is called BECHIRAH CHOFSHIT

Rabbi Akiva says in Pirkei Avot 3:19
"Rabbi Akiva said: All is foreseen, but freedom of choice is given. The world is judged in goodness, yet all is proportioned to one's work."

BECHIRAH CHOFSHIT בחירה חפשית is a fundamental principle in Judaism.

PEARL NO.3:
------------------
BLESSING [BERACHA ברכה] or CURSE [KELALAH קללה], you have FREEWILL to choose.

Devarim (Deutoronomy) 11:26
“SEE, I am setting before you today a BLESSING and a CURSE:

How do we get G-D's BLESSING?
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:27
the BLESSING, if you OBEY the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, which I command you TODAY,

There are 3 important words, we must notice, they are: BLESSING ---> OBEY the commandments ---> TODAY.

There is only 1 way to get G-D's BLESSING, that is: "OBEDIENCE to His commandments." And the OBEDIENCE requires action TODAY, not later, not tomorrow, not next week, not next month. But TODAY. Do not delay it.

In Hebrew is HA'YOM היום.

Next, I believe no one wants the part. How do we get G-D's CURSE?
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:28
and the CURSE, if you DO NOT OBEY the commandments of ADONAI your G-D, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you TODAY...

There are 3 important words, we must notice, they are: CURSE ---> DO NOT OBEY the commandments ---> TODAY.

There is also 1 way to get G-D's CURSE, that is: "DISOBEDIENCE to His commandments." If we DISOBEY TODAY, then CURSE will be upon us.

PEARL NO.4:
------------------
Devarim (Deutoronomy) 12:8
“You shall not do according to all that we are doing here today, everyone doing whatever is right in his own eyes,

In TODAY's world, there are many people do whatever is right in their own eyes. There are many people, they just do not care with the RIGHTEOUSNESS of G-D in the Torah. There are many people, they just make their own righteousness, built their own theology. This is chaos.

But, in parashat RE'EH, we are reminded, that we are to be careful to do all the STATUTES [CHUKIM חוקים] and the RULES [MISHPATIM משפטים] TODAY, not later, not tomorrow, but TODAY.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:32
you shall be careful to do all STATUTES [CHUKIM חוקים] and RULES [MISHPATIM משפטים] that I am setting before you TODAY.

Be remembered, STATUTES [CHUKIM חוקים] are decrees given without rational reasons. They are SUPRA-RATIONAL decrees. In other words, do not ask the reason why, just obey it.

There are many decrees in the Torah are categorised as CHUKIM

PEARL NO.5:
------------------
Devarim (Deutoronomy) 12:9-10
9 for you have not as yet come to the REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] and to the inheritance that ADONAI your G-D is giving you. 10 But when you go over the Jordan and live in the land that ADONAI your G-D is giving you to inherit, and when He gives you REST from all your enemies around, so that you live in safety,

What REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] is G-D talking about?

The Hebrew word MENUCHAH מנוחה is related to the Hebrew word MENACHEM מנחם. One of the Name of the Messiah according Talmud Babylonia Tractate Sanhedrin 98b is MENACHEM מנחם.

Sanhedrin 98b
"R. Johanan said: For the sake of the Messiah. What is his [the Messiah's] Name? — The School of R. Shila said: His name is Shiloh, for it is written, until Shiloh come. The School of R. Yannai said: His name is Yinnon, for it is written, His name shall endure for ever: e'er the sun was, his name is Yinnon. The School of R. Haninah maintained: His name is Chaninah, as it is written, Where I will not give you Chaninah. Others say: His name is Menachem the son of Hezekiah, for it is written, Because Menachem ['the Comforter'], that would relieve my soul, is far. The Rabbis said: His name is 'the leper scholar,' as it is written, Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him a leper, smitten of God, and afflicted."

MENACHEM מנחם, starts with letter MEM מ
SHILOH שילה, starts with letter SHIN ש
YINNON ינון, starts with letter YUD י
CHANANIAH חנניה, starts with letter CHET ח

If we take all the first letters above, we find the word MASHIACH

The REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] in Devarim (Deutoronomy) 12:9 is related to MENACHEM מנחם, and the REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוחה] is the MASHIACH משיח.

Rabbi Sha'ul in Hebrew 3:18-19
18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוח, which is the MASHIACH משיח], but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.

Yeshua Himself in Matityahu 11:28 explains that He is the REST [HA'MENUCHAH המנוח, which is the MASHIACH משיח]

Matityahu (Matthew) 11:28
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST.

CONCLUSION:
Practicing TORAH without YESHUA is like those people in the wilderness who disbelieved in G-D. They were failed to enter the REST [HA'MENUCHAH

Believe in G-D, believe in the Messiah but without practicing the Torah is also like those people who did not love G-D. Because OBEDIENCE is a sign of LOVE. If one keeps and obeys the Torah, he is showing his love to G-D.

Yochanan (John) 14:15; 21
15 If you have ahavah for me, you will be shomer mitzvot regarding my commandments. [Ps 103:18]
21 The one having the mitzvot of me and being shomer mitzvot, that one is the one having ahavah for me. And the one having ahavah for me will receive ahavah from Ha'Av of me, and I will have ahavah for him and I will manifest myself to him.

Shalom chaverim,

PARASHAT EIKEV is started with the word TO HEAR [SH'MA שמע] in the word TISH'M'UN תשמעון and is followed by the word TO GUARD [SHAMAR שמר] in the word U'SHEMARTEM ושמרתם.

Devarim (Deutoronomy) 7:12

v'ha.ya e.kev TISH.M'UN et ha.mish.pa.tim ha.e.le U.SHE.MAR.TEM va.a.si.tem o.tam v'sha.mar a.do.nai e.lo.hei.cha l'cha et-ha.be.rit v'et-ha.che.sed a.sher nish.ba la.a.vo.tei.cha:

And it shall come to pass, because ye HEARKEN to these ordinances, and KEEP, and do them, that the LORD thy G-D shall keep with thee the covenant and the mercy which He swore unto thy fathers,

For our part, if we give our ear to HEAR [SH'MA] and to GUARD [SHAMAR] and to DO G-D's ORDINANCES [MISHPATIM

G-D's part is, He will keep the COVENANT [HA'BRIT הברית] and MERCY [CHESED חסד] that He gave to our forefathers Avraham, Yitzhak and Yaakov.

In other word, HEAR, GUARD and DO His commandments so that you may LIVE today, now, in this world.

Devarim (Deutoronomy) 8:1

kol-ha.mits.va a.sher a.no.chi m'tsav.cha ha.yom tish.m'run la.a.sot l'ma.an TICH.YUN u.re.vi.tem u.va.tem vi.rish.tem et-ha.a.rets a.sher-nish.ba a.do.nai la.a.vo.tei.chem:

All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may LIVE, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers.

TORAH is not for SALVATION, but TORAH is for you to be BLESSED, to experience LIFE [CHAYIM חיים]. This is the reason why we read TORAH PORTION from Shabbat to another Shabbat, that is to experience LIVING full of LIFE.

If you miss the TORAH PORTION on Shabbat, that means you miss your LIVING that is full LIFE that has been given by Ha'Shem. TORAH PORTION is a LIFE-lesson.

PNINIM HA'TORAH (PERMATA-PERMATA TORAH) - PARASHAT EIKEV
========================================================

Shalom chaverim,

v'ha.ya e.kev TISH.M'UN et ha.mish.pa.tim ha.e.le U.SHE.MAR.TEM va.a.si.tem o.tam v'sha.mar a.do.nai e.lo.hei.cha l'cha et-ha.be.rit v'et-ha.che.sed a.sher nish.ba la.a.vo.tei.cha:

kol-ha.mits.va a.sher a.no.chi m'tsav.cha ha.yom tish.m'run la.a.sot l'ma.an TICH.YUN u.re.vi.tem u.va.tem vi.rish.tem et-ha.a.rets a.sher-nish.ba a.do.nai la.a.vo.tei.chem:
