Shalom,
What is the difference between HOLY DAYS and HOLIDAYS? Straight forward answer, HOLY DAYS is HOLY, it's QODESH, means SET APART. And HOLIDAYS is just HOLIDAY, there is nothing HOLY inside the day.
Within few days we're going to have PESACH from 14 NISAN evening (15 NISAN) - 25 MARCH 2013 in Gregorian Calendar. But there is also EASTER on 31 MARCH 2013. Are they the same or different?
We are going to see in a moment. Let's get start.
First of all we must read Gen 1:14 to understand the context of HOLY DAYS.
Gen 1:14 KJV
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for SIGNS [OT - אוֹת], and for SEASONS [MO'ED - מוֹעֵד], and for DAYS [YOM - יוֹם], and YEARS [SHANAH - שָׁנָה]
Let's take a look on the word SEASONS [MO'ED - מוֹעֵד]. It's Hebrew word with Strong's Number H4150, means : APPOINTMENT; A PLACE FOR MEETING; FIXED TIME; SIGNAL
And in Lev 23, G-d says :
Lev 23:1 KJV
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:2 KJV
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the FEASTS [MO'ED - מוֹעֵד] of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my FEASTS [MO'ED - מוֹעֵד].
There are 2 things to take notes :
1.
The FEASTS are known as [MO'ED - מוֹעֵד] = APPOINTMENT; A PLACE FOR MEETING; FIXED TIME; SIGNAL
2.
In verse 2, it is said, "my FEASTS [MO'ED - מוֹעֵד]" = "G-d's FEASTS [MO'ED - מוֹעֵד]" = G-d's APPOINTMENT; A PLACE FOR MEETING; FIXED TIME; SIGNAL
Lev 23, they are all G-d's FEASTS, it's NOT Israel's FEASTS, but G-d's FEASTS.
Further reading in Lev 23, you will find that there are HOLy DAYS of the LORD :
1. Weekly SHABBAT
2. PESACH (PASSOVER) = 14 NISAN
3. HA'MATZOT (UNLEAVENED BREAD) = 15-22 NISAN
4. REISHIT KATZIR (FIRSTFRUITS) = 17 NISAN
5. SHAVU'OT (PENTECOST) = 6-7 SIVAN
6. YOM TERU'AH/ROSH HA'SHANAH (TRUMPETS) = 1-2 TISHRI
7. YOM KIPPUR (ATONEMENT) = 10 TISHRI
8. SUKKOT (TABERNACLE) = 15-22 TISHRI
The year starts with the month of :

The Hebrew Calendar is divided into SPRING and FALL biblical HOLY DAYS. Amazingly these HOLY DAYS reveal G-d's master plan of redemption and actually correspond to end time events; including the 1st and 2nd coming of the Lord, Yeshua HaMashiach. Leviticus 23 calls these FEASTS of Ha'Shem APPOINTED TIMES and HOLY REHEARSALS. Thus, each HOLY DAY offers a window of opportunity to rehearse G-d’s plan of redemption, to draw close to G-d, to receive an impartation of fresh revelation and to experience a miracle outpouring of G-d’s blessing.
The first SPRING HOLY DAY is PESACH (PASSOVER)
PESACH commemorates the supernatural deliverance from Egyptian slavery. It was by the power of the blood of that unblemished lamb applied to the doorpost of every house that finally broke the power of bondage. Since the days of Moshe this was a divine rehearsal for when G-d would send His Lamb as the ultimate sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world. Incredibly, after a four-day examination period before the Roman and religious leaders Yeshua was found without blemish and slain (crucified) at the exact time the PESACH offering was slain in the Temple. This HOLY DAY is considered the spiritual New Year (Exo 12:2). So PESACH is a “PICTURE of good things to come”.
The second SPRING HOLY DAY is 7 DAYS HA'MATZOT (UNLEAVENED BREAD)
Feast of UNLEAVENED BREAD speaks of sanctification and purity. Leaven symbolizes sin and G-d told the Jewish people to cleanse all leaven from their homes and eat only unleavened bread, MATZAH, for seven days, a PICTURE of a holy walk with Him. Yeshua, who lived as the sinless Lamb of God, is the "LECHEM CHAIM", which is "BREAD OF LIFE" (John 1:29; John 6:48). Just as the MATZAH, Yeshua was striped and pierced, to symbolize the power of sin and death has been broken.
The third SPRING HOLY DAY is REISHIT KATZIR (FIRSTFRUITS)
The celebration of the REISHIT KATZIR (FIRSTFRUITS) follows 3 days later. This is the RESURRECTION DAY of our Lord Yeshua. This is the first of three major CHAGIM (Deu 16:16). The High Priest would lift up this barley offering to the LORD and wave it back and forth. It is a powerful and symbolic reminder of G-d’s grace, favor and protection, and directly corresponds to the Resurrection of the Lord. Yeshua is called the Firstfruits of many brethren (Romans 8:29, 1 Cor. 15:20-23). His resurrection marked the beginning of the great harvest of souls which would extend to all nations. (Matthew 28:19, 20) The 49 day period following REISHIT KATZIR (FIRSTFRUITS) is called Counting the Omer, a time of preparation for receiving the TORAH. On the fiftieth day (Jubilee), comes SHAVUOT (PENTECOST).
The fourth SPRING HOLY DAY is SHAVU'OT (PENTECOST)
SHAVU'OT (PENTECOST) is a biblical history which records both the giving of the TORAH at Mt. Sinai (Exodus 19,20) and the giving of the RUACH HA'QODESH (HOLY SPIRIT) (Acts 1, 2) about 1,500 years later....at exactly the same date 6-7 SIVAN. It’s symbolic of the completion of the salvation and redemption that began in Egypt. It also fulfills the promise in Jeremiah 31:31-33 that G-d would make a new covenant by writing the TORAH inside the hearts of the believers. This is the second of the three CHAGIM and is a wheat offering; representing wisdom and prosperity. The time between the SPRING and FALL HOLY DAYS corresponds to the time of waiting for Yeshua to return as promised.
The FALL HOLY DAYS begin with the season (month) of ELUL, called the TIME OF SEARCHING; RETURNING; TESHUVAH. The entire 40 days period between ELUL and YOM KIPPUR is viewed as a supernatural time for G-d’s people. It’s highlighted by the daily blowing of the TRUMPET or SHOFAR. As an alarm, it awakens us and beckons us to return to the foundations of our faith. It’s an appointed time to renew, refresh and improve our relationship with God and with G-d’s people.
The fifth FALL HOLY DAY is YOM TERU'AH/ROSH HA'SHANAH
TERU'AH means TRUMPETS. ROSH HA'SHANAH means THE HEAD OF THE YEAR. ROSH HA'SHANAH is the Jewish New Year (civil), follows 30 days of ELUK with a 2-day celebration. It officially begins the HIGH HOLY DAYS season and focuses on “TESHUVAH”, a repentance and return to the LORD. It is another APPOINTED TIME and DIVINE REHEARSAL, with G-d offering repentance and forgiveness for the sins and mistakes we’ve made, along with the opportunity to move forward into our destiny. Traditionally, it is here that God expects us to give an account for all the good things (or bad things) we’ve done the previous year. It’s very likely Yeshua launched His public ministry during the HIGH HOLY DAYS season, when people would be in the spirit to receive this message. Matthew 4 recounts that He went into a 40 days period of fasting which likely corresponds to the month of ELUL, a time of consecration and dedication to His spiritual mission. His first word in public ministry, recorded in Matthew 4:17 is “TESHUVAH (REPENT) for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” ROSH HA'SHANAH is also “the shadow of good things to come” as described in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; the sound of the FINAL TRUMPET (TEKIAH HA'GADOLAH) and the re-gathering of believers--known as the RAPTURE OF THE QEHILAT (HIS BRIDE). This end-time event is also described in 1 Corinthians 15 when all believers receive the full manifestation of eternal life and the world to come. It begins the 7 year period known as the Great Tribulation or the Time of Ya'acov’s Trouble (Jeremiah 30:4-7, Daniel 12:1, Matthew 24:15-22) and is the introduction to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb as described in Revelation 19:9. The 7 day period between ROSH HA'SHANAH and YOM KIPPUR corresponds to the 7 years of the Great Tribulation here on earth. While believers in MASHIACH are in heaven, those who are left behind still have an opportunity to come to faith in G-d. It will be however a very difficult experience because His wrath is poured out upon the nations who have absolutely refused to recognize the Lord and His TORAH, which are intensely determined to rebel against Him.
The sixth FALL HOLY DAY is YOM KIPPUR
YOM KIPPUR follows and is known as the DAY OF ATONEMENT. For 3,500 years Jews have celebrated this holiest of days with a focus on forgiveness and reconciliation with G-d. These themes are rooted in the story of the Golden Calf in Exodus 32. Here, Moshe pleaded with G-d to forgive the Jewish people. When Moshe brought the second set of Tablets down from Mount Sinai, it signified that G-d had accepted their repentance and had forgiven them. GRACE in the Tanakh.
From that day forward, every YOM KIPPUR has symbolized G-d’s amazing love, mercy and forgiveness; a divine moment when the LORD wipes the slate clean and releases the blessing of a new beginning. In the Tanakh, the main religious ceremony of YOM KIPPUR is described in Leviticus 16 and revolves around the holy of holies, the mercy seat and the sacrifices of two goats. This two-fold sacrifice reveals many powerful Brit Chadashah (New Covenant) truths including how the blood not only provides forgiveness of sins but also the power to break every curse. It is meant to be a time of great blessing. This epic day points to the promise of the Lord’s second coming which is know as Judgment Day or the Great Day of the Lord. Prophetically, it takes place after the 7 year tribulation period. This is when Yeshua returns with His army of saints and defeats His enemies at the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16). It prepares the way for the Messianic era spoken of in Revelation 19-20, Zechariah 14 and Isaiah 66.
The seventh FALL HOLY DAY is SUKKOT
The final HOLY DAY of the year, SUKKOT, is the FEAST OF TABERNACLES. Ancient Jewish wisdom teaches that SUKKOT represents a culmination of time; a time when both the individual and the nation have succeeded in attaining the long, sought-after harvest. It’s a time of great rejoicing that every one of our needs is met. It’s now at this appointed time that we bring the final of the three CHAGIM to demonstrate our gratitude and trust in G-d. There is a miracle revelation drawn from Malachi 3 that as we ‘return to the offerings of old’ G-d will open the windows of heaven and pour out an unlimited blessing. The First CHAGIM is the hidden key to the manifestation of this promise. One of the great symbols of this HOLY DAY is the SUKKAH, the shelter or booth built to serve as a reminder of G-d’s faithful protection through the 40 years in the wilderness. As a temporary structure the SUKKAH also symbolizes that our physical body and natural life on earth is temporary; that above all else we should always put our faith in the Lord. Ancient teaching refers to the SUKKAH as the "shelter of faith."
SUKKAH is also talking the SHEKINAH of G-d dwells among us. And Yochanan gives us a hint :
Joh 1:14 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and DWELT [SKENOO - σκηνοω] among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Let's take note in the word "DWELT [SKENOO - σκηνοω]".
It's a Greek word which means "TABERNACLE" (SUKKAH-singular / SUKKOT-plural).
When Yochanan was saying, "The WORD was made flesh" = The WORD became FLESH = YESHUA was born...in the FEAST OF SUKKOT (TABERNACLES)
Not CHRIST-MASS 25 DECEMBER.
SUKKOT is also called The HOLY DAY OF GATHERING and draws another important parallel between both Testaments---the end time harvest of souls. In Deuteronomy 16 G-d establishes the theme of the threshing floor and points spiritually to the end-time sifting of the wheat from the chaff. It corresponds to Yeshua’ teaching in Matthew 25:31-34 and the end time gathering of the nations and the separating of the sheep from the goats. This also points to the Millennial Reign of the Messiah in Revelation 20-21, when the fullness of the redemptive name of Emanu'El (El is with us) will be revealed. (Matthew 1:23). Zechariah 14:16 proclaims that during this thousand year reign of MASHIACH, the nations will travel to Jerusalem to worship the King and to keep the FEAST OF TABERNACLES.
Note :
So after we understand the HOLY DAYS of the LORD in Lev 23 and its relation to our MASHIACH, we know that the coming EASTER has nothing to do with Yeshua our MASHIACH.
EASTER is a pagan feast, worshipping the goddess of ISHTAR, the Babylonian goddess. It's a BABYLONIAN feast, pagan feast which is wrapped in the form of biblical feast. But, the source is a BABYLONIAN religion.
